The Story of Michael

Michael Dyer

Programming is my passion. Even from an early age I always have enjoyed building and designing "things". I started with older batch scripts and even some visual basic macros in excel, later I start programming my graphic calculator and even helping others in correcting their code. In my last year of High School I even completed some Robotics programming! It all started as a hobby from which it is now a career.

I first became interested with computers using my dad's 486, and even fixed some hardware as it failed. I build my first computer (from parts) when I was 16, and I have help others to fix computers ever since then however that is when I discovered my desire to create applications. I built my first website at the age of 12, although it was never published. Later I renewed my desire to create a website in University and as a result you are viewing version 2 now!

Currently, I am employed by H&R Block, my primary duties include supporting other staff with software issues, teaching new and returning staff members, addressing customer conserns, and even preparing tax returns.

Hobbies and Interests

My main hobby is learning. That may sound weird, however if you think about it, everything you do includes learning! Life is a gigantic learning experience that we must strive to grasp. No one can truly say they are prefect because everyone can improve, including me! Although this is my greatest strength it is also a significant weakness, as it means I am always curious for something else I can learn.

During my free time I enjoy playing video games, cards or almost any other kinds of games. I even enjoy reading technical/legal documentation on just about any subject of interest at the moment. Novels are just not my thing.

What about the Future

I would love to say exactly what the future will hold, however with the massive number of new developments in technology and the even more numerous changes to come, any plans I have would soon become obsolete and replaced with even more ambitions ones. I defiantly have ambitions, and motivations but to know exactly where I will end up is still anyone's guess.

Favourite Sayings

Why would you reinvent the wheel? - There is always room for improvement.
  - Just think about who still rides on wooden wheels! We basically ride on air covered with rubber, not everything can be perfect the first time.
  - NASA even invented a wheel made from a metal mesh, no tire pressure.
Why fix it if it isn't broken? - To prevent it from breaking.
  - Everything will break, the only question is when. Look at any security on the internet meant to protect privacy breaches.
This illistaration demonstrates both of these perfectly!
